I decided to do something a little out of the box for Valentine’s day (or week). Let me explain…I can never surprise my husband. He can figure me out pretty easily. So this year I came clean! I told him on Sunday to be excited for his surprises.
Every day leading up to Valentine’s Day, I did something special for him.
Day 1, I made chocolate chip cookies (his favorite) from scratch, something that is not easy for me. I can cook, but baking and me have a love-hate relationship. I love to eat baked goods, but hate making them. I’m happy to say the Pioneer Woman has never failed me, and thanks to her recipe I made some yummy cookies.
Day 2, I had to wait until Paul fell asleep, so that when he woke up his gift would be one of the first things he saw. His favorite candy is Reese’s Cups, especially the easter egg shape. I put three Reese’s Cups in his coffee cup.
Day 3, I got him a print that I LOVE from Moon River Print Co.
Day 4, I made his favorite meal with homemade brownie sundaes and homemade caramel sauce.
Day 5 was a classic – a coupon for a back scratch (who doesn’t remember giving coupon books to their parents for birthdays???).
Day 6 – thanks to the weather, this one hasn’t happened yet.
Valentine’s Day – this year it was all about the kids and it was so much fun! We had a tea party at Jolie’s house and Grace went all out! She decorated the table with cookies, candy hearts, tea, and real tea sets.
Jolie insisted that I needed a picture of her shopping cart.
